Children of the Taliban

A Taliban training video shows young boys role playing a suicide bombing.

For the aspiring adolescent suicide bombers in the video, a Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid makes it clear that certain extremists are indeed in charge of the children’s fate.

From the New York Times, March 5, 2011:

A Taliban spokesman said the insurgents did not make the video. And though he expressed regrets that such things had become reality even for children, he made it clear that the Taliban approved. “We are saddened that children are playing this game, but they should do it because this is a war that was imposed upon us.

Far from being “saddened” by the propaganda video, Mujahid is part of an Islamic sect that routinely recruits children to wage war against the infidels.

A 2009 Frontline program, “Children of the Taliban” followed a reporter to Pakistan where she met a Taliban leader. She asked Qari Abdullah about recruiting children as young as 5 or 6 to become suicide bombers:

Children are tools to achieve God’s will. And whatever comes your way, you sacrifice it.

Next a Taliban preacher justified using children to wage jihad against enemies:

Sharia Law is our right, and we will exercise this right whatever happens. We will make ourselves suicide bombers! I swear to God if our leader orders me, I will sacrifice myself… and blow myself up in the middle of our enemies.

Then a 14-year-old boy told the journalist,

When I look at suicide bombers younger than me, or my age, I get so inspired by their terrific attacks.

Jihadi efforts to recruit and teach children the joys of martyrdom often include “play-acting.” In a post 9/11 world the Youtube video shows these children’s games are dead serious.
